Environmental Education Center “Zapovedniks”, Moscow, Russia
“Zapovedniks” means “Strict Nature Reserves” in Russian.EcoCentre “Zapovedniks” is an NGO that has been working for 12 years to raise public awareness and support for nature protected areas of Russia. Successful implementation of WWF project “Public support of Russian PA and environmental education” in 1996 has shown the necessity of creation of such Centre and its operation on a regular basis.
EcoCentre “Zapovedniks” works closely with the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, international environmental organizations, federal and regional protected areas and leading experts in PA management.
We coordinate 40 branches in Russia that have different organizational structure (clubs of PA friends, public center, individual volunteers, etc).
Since 2007 EcoCentre is a member of the Network of European Environmental Training Centers of Excellence. We organize training programs and study visits for PA managers, environmental interpreters, eco-tourism managers, specialists in biodiversity conservation, environmental ecology and similar fields.
